Hydraulic and Pneumatic
Precision seals built for pressure, performance and durability.
In the hydraulics and pneumatics industry, where systems operate under extreme pressures and variable temperatures, high-performance sealing solutions are essential. We specialise in delivering precision-engineered seals that ensure efficiency, reliability and longevity for a wide range of applications, from construction machinery, agricultural vehicles and aircraft to machine tools and production assembly lines.
Hydraulic cylinders are used in various applications, including:
- Hydraulic cylinders and actuators
- Pneumatic tools and valves
- Heavy machinery and construction equipment
- Agricultural and forestry machinery
- Industrial automation systems
- Material handling and lifting equipment
Sealing Products for Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems
We offer a comprehensive range of seals designed to perform in both static and dynamic environments:
- Rod Seals
- Piston Seals
- Wiper Seals (Scrapers)
- Wear Rings (Guide Rings)
- U-Cup/U-Ring Seals
- O-Rings
- Back-up Rings
- Machined Pneumatic Seals
- M-Turn®
Seal Materials
High-performance materials tailored to the demands of hydraulic and pneumatic environments:
- Nitrile (NBR) – Excellent resistance to oils, fuels, and hydraulic fluids. Common for general-purpose applications.
- Fluorocarbon (FKM/Viton®) – Superior chemical and temperature resistance for aggressive environments.
- Polyurethane (PU) – Outstanding abrasion resistance and elasticity.
- PTFE (Teflon®) – Low friction, high chemical resistance, and minimal stick-slip.
- EPDM – Excellent resistance to weathering, ozone, and some hydraulic fluids (esp. phosphate esters).
- HNBR – Higher temperature and mechanical performance than standard nitrile.
Case Studies
Download60% Bronze Filled PTFE Seals
We were approached by a client who required seals for a large hydraulic lift. The lift had four identical cylinders of 11.5” bore with a 10.75” rod diameter.

DownloadSeals for Increased Production
This project involved hydraulic presses in a production environment, which were working, but the customer wanted to improve efficiency. The single acting seals being used were not leaking or causing any sealing issues; under pressure the rams were in production mode, when pressure was off, the ram retracted to its start position under its own weight, which was taking time. Our customer wanted to know if the retraction time could be reduced.

DownloadSolving Cylinder OEM Sealing Problems
The customer was having issues with new design, new build cylinders that were not passing tests, which subsequently was holding back an export delivery. After numerous stripping and re-sealing with seals and housings checked against drawings, failure was still being seen which could not be explained.

Hydraulic Hammer - KB26 Specialist Application
We were approached with a longstanding sealing problem, with an objective to replace the conventional O-Ring and Back-Up Ring arrangement with a superior sealing setup.
Some of the key contributing factors to the failure of the existing products included cavitation/dieseling effect, large pressure fluctuations, excessive short cycle movement and spiral/seal-roll failure.
Industry Challenges We Solve
- High-pressure fluid retention
- Friction and wear reduction
- Extreme temperature resistance
- Compatibility with a wide range of fluids and gases
- Extended service life in dynamic applications
Optimising Hydraulic Cylinder Performance
The performance of a hydraulic cylinder is reliant on the effectiveness of its sealing system. To minimise contamination and ensure long-term durability, seals must be precisely engineered for their specific roles within the cylinder. However, the demands placed on hydraulic seals extend well beyond basic leakage prevention. These components must maintain their integrity under high pressures, extreme temperatures and significant transverse forces.
For optimal performance, every seal within the cylinder must be designed to function cohesively as part of an integrated system. Our piston seals are engineered to prevent the transfer of pressurised hydraulic fluid across the piston. They incorporate wear rings to eliminate metal-to-metal contact while absorbing lateral loads. On the rod side, our seals prevent fluid leakage and protect the system from both internal and external contaminants. And scraper seals remove dirt, moisture and foreign particles from the piston rod surface, while the rod seal ensures proper lubrication of the rod during operation.
