Polyurethane Elastomer (PU / TPU)
  • Polyurethane Elastomer (PU / TPU)

Polyurethane (PU) has become one of the most widely used materials for hydraulic and pneumatic sealing applications over recent years. This is mainly due to its outstanding mechanical and physical properties, such as its excellent resistance to abrasion, wear and extrusion in comparison to other common sealing materials.

Polyurethane is extremely versatile and can be adapted to suit a wide range of applications via a number of different material modifications and formulations. Examples of this are internal lubricants to provide low friction properties, modifications to provide hydrolysis resistance to prevent material degradation while being used in hot water or water based fluids, or simply increased hardness to help with extrusion resistance.
